Maybe there is something out there that is worth staring at for hours at a time. Maybe not.
Today was my first day of fall classes at BYU. I've been here since last summer, taking a full load every semester except for the first. It started out pretty well but it morphed into worrisome all too quickly. I have my first class at 10 and it goes very well because I'm with a friend and I like the idea of becoming a better person. That Doctrine and Covenants class is taught by Brother Bott. My friend, Megan, who I'm with, took Mission Preparation from him and loved it. It has started well. Next I've got a 2 hour break until my Microbiology class starts. 1) I don't have the book and he has assigned several readings and 2) his grading system seems more complex than the nervous system. After leaving the class more than a little befuddled, I've got just under an hour to catch a bus that ends up costing me twice what I thought it would. I rode to Sandy on the Express 817 and proceeded to take Trax up to the Triad Center in Salt Lake where my art history class with Sister Howe would start at 5. Sister Howe is awesome. She's a great teacher and I had her for English 150 last fall. I enjoyed the first weeks worth of class jammed into 2 hours and a bit. At the end though I fell into a trap. Melina Jones had texted me in class and asked if I wanted to catch the bus with her down to Provo. Being the wonderful brown-noser that I am I didn't even look at my phone to find this out. I asked if there were going to be any of my classmates driving to Provo right after class and a lady, Kelly, from some small southeastern Utah town offered the ride. I stood around waiting for her to get her student ID when I could have been down at the bookstore buying the book for the class I'd just taken I didn't though. I wasted some time waiting and then thought about the fact that earlier I'd received a text . I checked and found what Melina had written so I gave her a call and decided to join her. I told Kelly that I'd be taking the bus. but as I exited the triad center I saw the Sandy Trax line take off from the stop. that would put me 20 minutes behind Melina and she had to catch the 8:17 of the 811 to get home on time. little did I know that the only other one that took off was at 9:47. I took the Trax anyway and right now, at 10:45. I'm rolling into Provo.
